Meet the team
Chris Miller, Founder and CTO
Christopher has over 40 years of programming experience working on the Macintosh operating system at Apple Computer and he was a System Architect at America Online before sailing to Aotearoa from Mexico in 1999. At Emirates Team New Zealand he developed the world’s first image processing-based sail trim optimisation tool to be used during America’s Cup racing. This project established his expertise in machine vision and artificial intelligence using neural networks. Today he leads Fruitometry’s product development and technology team working on new features and refining the software. Christopher has a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and is the inventor of two US patents on automated software testing.
Mike Ullrich, Co-Founder and Director
Mike has over 25 years experience leading high growth global tech companies in the energy, payments, telecommunications, agriculture, big data, IOT, and electronics sectors. He is currently the CEO of Fisher & Paykel Technologies Ltd, and previously had leadership roles with Influx Energy Data, Invenco, Fusion Electronics, Actronic and Navman.
Kevin Halliday, Director
Kevin is the Group Commercial and Planning Manager at Seeka Ltd. In July 2021 Seeka purchased a 26% shareholding in Fruitometry.
Nico Castro, Data and Analytics Lead
As Fruitometry’s first employee, Nico has played a huge role in the technology’s development and application. Originally from Argentina he was previously a lecturer and adjunct professor teaching applied physics and Solar Energy at the National University of Salta. He’s been involved in research on ecophysiology of vines as a PhD candidate in Renewable Energies.
Euan Joblin, Product Engineer
Euan joined Fruitometry in 2021 and is responsible for the development and maintenance of our field units. Euan also investigates and trials new technology to enable continuous improvement of our services.
Zac Morison, Field Operations
Zac was brought up by a family of orchardists and farmers and is passionate about kiwifruit and horticulture. As one of Fruitometry’s first field operators, Zac is experienced in scanning client orchards and processing reports. Zac is based at Fruitometry’s Te Puke site.
