Fruitometry is proud to share our latest accuracy results for the 2021/22 kiwifruit season: 94% accuracy for our fruit density estimations when compared to harvested fruit.
We recently compared our commercial fruit density reports with actual orchard packouts for 2022. As part of our ongoing accuracy improvement, Fruitometry chief technologist Nico Castro analysed the data for 70 hectares from 41 maturity areas scanned between January 15 and March 1, 2022. The fruit density reports were compared directly to orchard packout results for each maturity area.

Nico’s analysis showed that Fruitometry’s fruit density reports were 94% accurate overall. 91% of Fruitometry’s fruit density estimates had an error rate below 10%. In Sungold crops the average error rate was 5.5% and in Hayward crops it was 7.4%. Nico says this result was in line with what he was expecting.
“Not only do we count your entire orchard, rather than just the handful of bays counted traditionally, but our AI counts your orchard more accurately than any human.”
